Jitesh Sharma has revealed that Hardik Pandya was the first person to reach out to him after he was left out of India's squad for the 2026 T20 World Cup, highlighting the all-rounder's support during a difficult moment.
The wicketkeeper-batter, who had been in strong contention for a spot, admitted that the selection decision came as a disappointment, but the response from fellow cricketers - especially Pandya - helped him handle the setback.

Speaking about the episode, Jitesh revealed that Pandya was quick to offer encouragement when the squad announcement left him out.
"Hardik bhai was the first person to message me when my name was not in the World Cup squad," Jitesh said during a recent interview.
He also praised Pandya's work ethic and leadership qualities, describing him as one of the hardest-working players he has seen.
"He is a very smart cricketer. His routine is insane - swimming, yoga, then batting and bowling. No one works hard like him," Jitesh added.
Despite missing out on the World Cup, Jitesh remains determined to push back into contention through strong performances in IPL 2026.
The wicketkeeper-batter will represent Royal Challengers Bengaluru this season after playing a role in the franchise's title-winning campaign in 2025.
He recently showed signs of good form in practice, scoring a quick 81 runs off 37 balls during an intra-squad match at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium.
Jitesh is expected to feature in the IPL 2026 opener between defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Sunrisers Hyderabad on March 28.
A strong IPL campaign could prove crucial in putting him back on the selectors' radar - and turning the disappointment of missing the World Cup into motivation for a comeback.
