What is RCB Unbox Event And What Happened in Previous Editions of Royal Challengers Bengaluru Special Date?

Indian Premier League (IPL) side Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) has made it a tradition of staging the RCB Unbox event since the 2022 edition, featuring jersey launches, practice sessions, big announcements and more.

The special event, organized by the Bengaluru-based side, plays as a big platform to connect the franchise or the team with the 12th man army - one of the most loyal fanbases around the world of sport. The name unbox already suggests - surprises in-store, bringing more curiosity among supporters.

RCB Unbox has so far been held ahead of three editions of IPL, and the trend is expected to continue for years to come as the franchise looks to get the fans hyped for the new season. Here is why RCB stage the event and what has happened at these special events so far:

What is RCB Unbox Event And A Look Back at Event in Last 3 Years

RCB Unbox 2022: RCB started off this event in 2022 following the mega auction. And during the inaugural event, the franchise used this event as platform to announce their captain - Faf Du Plessis. Plus they also launched their new jersey along with some fun events for the fans.

As India vs Sri Lanka Test match was in progress at the home of RCB - M Chinnaswamy Stadium, the franchise hosted the first low-key event, according to their standards, on Church Street in Bengaluru, where some of the new players, including Dinesh Karthik also were in attendance.

The event earned a lot of attraction from fans as the franchise believed they got an even better connect with their supporters despite the first-ever RCB Unbox being held outside the home venue of the team.

RCB Unbox 2023: From 2023, the event got bigger and better as the franchise introduced the RCB Hall of Fame with legends Chris Gayle and AB De Villiers set to be honoured during the RCB Unbox 2023, which was held at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium. Fans also got to see the team practice before the season.

While Gayle and De Villiers received their honour and saw their jersey numbers being retired, the packed venue in Bengaluru, also witnessed the squad featuring Virat Kohli engage with the fans with some speeches as the franchise unveiled their new jersey ahead of IPL 2023.

RCB Unbox 2024: In 2024, the franchise brought international DJ and Music Producer Alan Walker as the headliner of the performers. Plus, the franchise also made the announcement of a much-awaited name change from Royal Challengers Bangalore to Royal Challengers Bengaluru.

The 2024 event was graced by several big names from the Sandalwood, who teased the name change weeks ahead of the event. This even was special for the franchise as they had their first trophy victory lap thanks to the women's team's WPL triumph.

Smriti Mandhana, the RCB women's captain led her team out with the trophy as the fans at the venue got the glimpse of the franchise's first-ever trophy. Also, there was new jersey launch, featuring Du Plessis, Kohli and Smriti.

Apart from the jersey launch, the announcement of a name change and an open practice session with the backdrop of some performances, former Karnataka skipper and RCB legend R Vinay Kumar was inducted into the RCB Hall of Fame.
