Abhishek Sharma lit up the Wankhede Stadium with a scintillating performance in the fifth T20I against England, but it wasn't just his record-breaking 135 off 54 balls that caught attention.
His unique celebration, where he raised his right hand to form an 'L' symbol facing the stands, became the highlight of the evening.

Explaining the gesture, Abhishek shared with BCCI.tv, "I've celebrated like this whenever I've scored fifty. I love it. This (the gesture) is (for) Love." The celebration followed his explosive fifty, which he seamlessly converted into the second-fastest T20I century for India, trailing only Rohit Sharma. His knock also set the record for the highest individual score by an Indian in T20 Internationals.
Reflecting on his journey, the SRH man said, "Before this series, I hadn't even scored 30 in India. I used to manifest how I'll celebrate if I score a century, but when I did, my mind went blank. Everything was pure emotion." His heartfelt words reflected the raw passion behind his powerful innings.
The 24-year-old aggressive approach has been bolstered by the unwavering support of India's T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav and head coach Gautam Gambhir. "The way Surya paji and Gauti paji have supported me. They have more trust in me than I've in myself. Captain and coach have asked us to maintain aggressive intent, which I like. I am sure you will see more youngsters playing this kind of an innings given the support we get," he added.
His explosive batting display propelled India to a daunting total of 247/9. England's chase crumbled quickly, folding for just 97 runs in 10.3 overs, as India clinched a commanding 150-run victory to seal the series 4-1.
For his record-setting performance and memorable celebration, Abhishek Sharma was deservingly named Player of the Match, leaving fans eagerly anticipating more such iconic moments in the future.
