Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the Team India dressing room after they faced a heartbreaking six-wicket defeat in the final of World Cup 2023 against Australia on Sunday.
PM Modi arrived at the venue named after him, towards the end of the match. Australia were already cruising towards the 241-run target without any problem. PM Narendra Modi handed the World Cup trophy to Australia captain Pat Cummins before meeting the members of the Australian cricket team.

He later walked in the Indian dressing room with Home Minister Amit Shah. Here is what he told India players including Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and Mohammed Shami.
To Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli: Aap log pura 10-10 game jeet kar aae ho, ye to hota rehta hai. Muskuraiye bhai (to Rohit Sharma), the nation is watching you. Maine socha mil lu sabko, hota hai. (You guys won 10 games on the trot. These things happen in sports. Please smile (to Rohit Sharma), the nation is watching you. Thought of meeting you guys, don't take the defeat to your hearts.
To Rahul Dravid: Ka Rahul, kaise hai? Mehnat bohot ki hai lekin.... (Hey Rahul, how are you? You guys worked really hard but)
To Ravindra Jadeja: Ka babu (Hello son, how are you?)
To Mohammed Shami: Shami, bohot acha kiya hai iss baar (Shami, you have done really well this time).
To Jasprit Bumrah: "Gujarati bolte ho (Do you speak Gujrati)," he asked Jasprit Bumrah to lighten the mood of the camp. Bumrah quipped saying, "thodu thodu (a little bit).
To Shreyas Iyer, Suryakumar Yadav and Kuldeep Yadav: Aap log ne bohot achi mehnta ki hai (You guys have worked hard a lot)
To KL Rahul: "Chaliye hota hai (These things happen in sports)," PM Modi said, who seemingly had swollen eyes from crying.
To the Indian cricket team before leaving the dressing room: Hota rehta hai aisa. Saathiyo ka hausla buland krte chaliye. Jab aap log kabhi free honge, dilli aaenge to baithunga aap logo ke saath. Meri taraf se nimantrad hai aap sab ko (Keep supporting your teammates. Whenever you guys are free come to Delhi, we will sit and talk. You all are invited)," PM Narendra Modi said before leaving the team.
