Rinku Singh called his mother and informed about not being picked in India's 15-member squad for the T20 World Cup 2024, the cricketer's father has revealed. Shivam Dube was picked ahead of the Aligarh-born cricket for India's T20 World Cup 2024 squad on Tuesday, April 30.
Rinku Singh was certain of a place in the squad for the mega event ahead of the IPL 2024, however lack of opportunity to bat in the ongoing tournament, and Dube's impactful performances for Chennai Super Kings (CSK), played a role in his snub. We brought sweets, crackers to celebrate, we thought Rinku would play in the first eleven)," he said in an interview with Bharat 24.
"Uska dil toh tuta hai. Usne apni maa se baat ki aur bataya ki uska naam nahi hai 11 ya 15 mein. Lekin bataya hain ke wo jaa raha hain (He is heartbroken. He spoke to his mother and told her that he was not picked in the 11 or 15. But he also said that he will be travelling with the team," Rinku's father added.

Former India all-rounder Irfan Pathan has sympathised with Rinku Singh for not find a place in India's 15-member squad for the T20 World Cup 2024. He said the management should get in touch with him as his confidence must be shatters.
"In my squad, Rinku still finds a place. There are 4 spinners in the squad. Even if they play 3 spinners, one of them will be sitting out. His confidence must be shattered," Irfan Pathan told Star Sports.
"How he must be feeling? As a senior guy, we can tell him 'You are not far away from the squad, you are in the reserves. Take that as a positive and we back you’. This is where the selectors and the team management come in, the communication should come in. I hope the team management is speaking to him. I hope the selectors spoke to him. I know Ajit very well, I hope he has spoken to him. If not, this is the time they should be talking to him. Not talking is a wrong thing to do," Pathan added.
