India captain Rohit Sharma has departed after scoring 47 runs in the World Cup 2023 Final against Australia on Sunday (November 19).

The Indian captain again gave the team a sublime start with his classic aggressive start. Rohit took on the Aussie pacers and started scoring runs at a brisk pace. Despite Shubman Gill's wicket, Rohit and Virat Kohli were going all guns blazing as India were threatening to make another dominating start.

But in the 10th over, Rohit threw away his wicket in Glenn Maxwell's bowling. He hit Maxwell for a six and a four in consecutive deliveries, and then mistimed one while attempting another big hit.

Rohit's thickish edge looped high in the air and Travis Head grabbed a stunning catch running to dismiss the Indian captain. The opener has departed after scoring 47 off just 31 balls, hitting 4 fours and 3 sixes in the process.

Rohit's aggressor role has been lauded by fans throughout the tournament, but fans believe the Indian captain could have taken some time in such a big spectacle such as World Cup Final. The agonized fans believe the dashing batter could have taken things a bit more calculatively.

Also, the immediate departure of Shreyas Iyer after Rohit's dismissal has further compounded India's problems.
