Former India all-rounder Yuvraj Singh has been appointed as the assistant and batting coach of Delhi Capitals ahead of the 2027 Indian Premier League (IPL) season.

The appointment marks his first formal coaching assignment and brings him back to the franchise after an 11-year gap.

Yuvraj will work alongside Sourav Ganguly, who was recently named Delhi Capitals' head coach. The reunion also brings together two former India teammates who shared the dressing room during several memorable campaigns for the national side.

The 44-year-old brings considerable international and franchise cricket experience to the Capitals' coaching setup. He played a crucial role in India's triumphs at the 2007 T20 World Cup and the 2011 ODI World Cup, establishing himself as one of the country's most influential limited-overs cricketers.

Yuvraj previously represented the Delhi franchise, then known as Delhi Daredevils, during the 2015 IPL season. Delhi secured his services for Rs 16 crore at the auction, making him the most expensive player in IPL history at that time. He featured in all 14 matches for the team that season.

Across his IPL career, Yuvraj played 132 matches, scoring 2,750 runs and claiming 36 wickets. At the international level, he represented India in 40 Tests, 304 ODIs and 58 T20Is during his distinguished career.

Although this will be his first official coaching role, Yuvraj has mentored several emerging and established Indian cricketers in recent years, including Abhishek Sharma and Prabhsimran Singh. His experience in high-pressure matches and understanding of batting could prove valuable as Delhi Capitals look to strengthen their campaign.
