Shubman Gill's India showcased extreme resilience to pull off a staggering result against England in the Old Trafford Test.
After being pushed at the corner, the Indian batters roared back and batted out the entire 5th day to force a draw. From the impending likelihood of defeat, the share of spoils must be a big boost for them, who will now be hoping to end with winning terms in the 5th and final Test of the series.

The draw at Old Trafford also marked the first draw as India captain for Shubman Gill, on his 4th outing as the leader. Although Test cricket used to produce a lot of drawn matches, the number has drastically reduced in recent times.
Since the start of the 2014 Australia tour, India have played 104 Tests, which have resulted in only 17 draws. Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma have led the Indian team in the majority of these matches, and the duo have very least number of drawn matches to show.
Virat Kohli's first Test as captain was against Australia at the Adelaide Oval in December 2014, which ended in an India loss, not a draw. Kohli impressively scored centuries in both innings but India lost by 48 runs. This was his captaincy debut match in Tests, taking charge because MS Dhoni was injured.
Rohit Sharma took over as Test captain after Virat Kohli stepped down in January 2022. Rohit's first Test captaincy match was during the home series against Sri Lanka, and it ended in a win for India.
Incidentally, Virat Kohli first draw as India captain came in his debut as India captain. Kohli took over captaincy in the 1st Test against Australia due to an injury to MS Dhoni, but after Dhoni retired after the 3rd Test, Kohli was handed back the captaincy again.
In the 4th and final Test, which was Kohli's debut as full-time captain, India secured a draw in Sydney. Kohli himself scored 147 runs with the bat in the first innings as concluded the series with a 0-2 defeat.
Rohit Sharma's first Test draw as captain came against Australia as well, in the 4th Test in 2023. Incidentally, the match was played at the Narendra Modi Stadium. Virat Kohli was again the player of the match with a stellar 186, and this time, the Indian team secured a 2-1 Test series victory. It was Rohit's 6th Test as captain when India managed a draw.
