Senior stars Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli announced their retirment from T20 Internationals following Team India's T20 World Cup win after the Men in Blue defeated South Africa by 7 runs in the final on Saturday (June 29).
Kohli and Rohit brought down the curtains on their over a decade-long careers in T20Is moments after they played a big part in ending India's 11-year wait for an ICC trophy, a 13-year wait for a World Cup and a 17-year wait for a second T20 World Cup title.

The duo, who have been main-stays in the Indian squad and also led the side in different times of their career in the format, will no longer represent the national team in T20Is. However, the pair will be available for selection in ODI and Tests.
With T20Is being the immediate assignment for the national team, Kohli and Rohit will have ample time to rest before they return to action for the Men in Blue. So, when will they play their next match for India? Here is a look at the potential series the duo may play:
Rohit and Kohli's next match for India could be either at the start of next month or the month that follows with the ODIs and Tests scheduled to be played in August and September.
With the announcement of their retirement from the T20Is, Rohit and Kohli will not feature in the upcoming 5-match series in Zimbabwe and the 3-match series in Sri Lanka. The duo, however, is likely to be back playing in the 3-match ODI series in Sri Lanka.
Team India's preparations for the Champions Trophy 2025 in Pakistan is set to begin on August 2nd with the first of the three ODIs in Sri Lanka. The second and third matches will be played on August 4th and 7th respectively.
Jay Shah has already confirmed a similar team to the one that won the T20 World Cup will feature in the CT 2025, meaning Kohli and Rohit will be part of the plans for the next ICC event. So, there is very good chance that the senior pair will be in the squad for the ODI series.
If not the Sri Lanka tour, Kohli and Rohit will definitely be back in the run for the World Test Championship final when India hosts Bangladesh for 2 Tests in September.
