The World Cup 2023 has determined the fate of the teams for the Champions Trophy in 2025. The Champions Trophy in 2025 will be held in Pakistan and the eight participants for the tournament have qualified for the tournament.
It was announced that ICC and the members agreed that the World Cup 2023 table will be the one which will determine the eight participating nations, and the top eight teams along with hosts Pakistan have now sealed their berth for the Champions Trophy in two years.

Following a remarkable performance in World Cup 2023, the Afghanistan cricket team has secured a place in the Champions Trophy for the first time in their cricketing history. The team, which registered four victories in the World Cup, has made this significant advancement in international cricket.
India, Australia, South Africa, New Zealand, England, and Pakistan are all set for their ninth sojourn in the Champions Trophy. Contrastingly, Bangladesh is preparing for its sixth appearance, while Afghanistan is making its maiden entry.
And as the eight participants are confirmed, there are two big absentees as two previous winners of the Champions Trophy will not take any part in the upcoming edition of the tournament.
West Indies: West Indies will not take any part in the Champions Trophy in Pakistan. The Calypso boys have participated in all the previous editions and they also won the tournament in 2004 in England. In that year, they beat hosts England in the Final by 2 wickets and lifted their first ICC trophy in 25 years.
Sri Lanka: Sri Lanka has missed out on a spot in the Champions Trophy as they missed out the berth to Bangladesh due to an inferior Net Run Rate. The Island country are also a participant in all the previous editions and they also lifted the tournament jointly in 2002. They played the final against India in that edition and the match got washed out on the reserve day as well.
These are the two big giants of world cricket who will be missed in Pakistan and you can only hope a prompt return for both of them in the 2029 Champions Trophy.
