A blast occurred in Lahore's Gulshan-i-Iqbal Park on Sunday evening when people had assembled there for the Easter, killing at least 65 people and injuring over 300. The dead included women and children.

TTP Jamaatul Ahrar claims responsibility, says Dawn

Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan Jamaatul Ahrar later claimed responsibility for the attack

Iqbal Town Superintendent of Police Muhammad Iqbal said it was a suicide attack that aimed a children's park, where many families, including women and children, were present.

The site of the blast is a renowned residential area of Lahore, the capital of Pakistan's wealthiest province of Punjab.

Another official said the head of the suicide bomber was recovered, the Dawn report said.

Eye-witnesses said blood and body parts remained scattered across the place of the attack.

PM Modi calls up Nawaz Sharif, condoles deaths

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi called up his Pakistani counterpart Nawaz Sharif after the blast and offered his condolences.He termed the attack as cowardly for targeting women and children and stressed the need for 'uncompromising efforts' to tackle terror.
