The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is seeking new coaching staff for its Center of Excellence (COE) following the exit of several key personnel, including the renowned bowling coach Troy Cooley.
Cooley, a former Australian first-class pacer and England's Ashes-winning bowling coach, had completed his three-year contract and an extension with the BCCI. He was appointed as the bowling coach of the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in late 2021 and may now be succeeded by former India fast bowler VRV Singh, who has previously worked alongside him.

In addition to Cooley, other staff members have departed in recent months, leaving multiple vacancies. Notable departures include medical team chief Nitin Patel, who resigned in March, spin bowling coach Sairaj Bahutule, who joined the Rajasthan Royals support staff, and NCA coach Sitanshu Kotak, who has moved to the national team as batting coach.
Meanwhile, VVS Laxman, the current COE chief, whose term ends this year, appears hesitant to renew his position, although there is speculation he might be asked to stay until the 2027 ODI World Cup. The former India player has been a key figure in nurturing the young talents and his departure will create a massive void in the entire ecosystem.
To fill these gaps, the BCCI has advertised for three key posts: bowling coach, batting coach, and head of sports medicine. Applicants for the bowling and batting coach positions are required to be former first-class or international cricketers holding BCCI level two or three coaching certificates.
Additionally, a minimum of five years of coaching experience at the state or elite youth level is mandatory for both roles. For the head of sports medicine, candidates must possess a Master's degree (preferably a Doctorate) in Sports Science or a related field, along with at least five years of relevant experience. The deadline for applications is August 20.
