Who Is Disha Kasat? MI Women Sign India player in WPL 2027 Auction, gave up her CA Career for Cricket
Mumbai Indians have signed Indian batter Disha Kasat at the Women's Premier League (WPL) 2027 auction, adding domestic batting depth to their squad ahead of the upcoming season. The right-handed batter from Maharashtra returns to the WPL after previously representing Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the tournament's inaugural editions.
Kasat was among the uncapped Indian batters registered for the WPL 2027 auction at a base price of ₹10 lakh. Her signing gives Mumbai Indians another domestic option as they look to strengthen their squad for the upcoming campaign.

Who Is Disha Kasat?
Disha Kasat was born on September 19, 1997, in Amravati, Maharashtra. She has established herself in Indian domestic cricket through her performances for Vidarbha, featuring in both List A and T20 competitions. A right-handed batter, she has also contributed with the ball in domestic cricket.
Kasat came into the spotlight during the 2022-23 Senior Women's T20 Trophy, where she scored 300 runs in eight innings at an average of 60.00. Her performances helped Vidarbha reach the semi-finals and strengthened her reputation as a domestic batting prospect.
Disha Kasat's WPL Career
Kasat previously played for Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the Women's Premier League, making her debut against Delhi Capitals on March 5, 2023. However, opportunities were limited during her time with RCB. Across 10 WPL matches, she scored 11 runs in five innings, with a highest score of nine.
Her domestic record offers a broader picture of her batting experience. According to CricketArchive, Kasat has scored 1,975 runs in 73 List A matches, including three centuries and 14 half-centuries. She has also scored 2,129 runs in 96 T20 matches, with one century and 10 half-centuries.
Disha chose Cricket over CA
Disha Kasat's journey in cricket is particularly interesting because she once considered a career as a Chartered Accountant before deciding to pursue the sport professionally. The Vidarbha batter had taken her academics seriously and scored 86 per cent in her Class 12 commerce examinations. She had even paid for CA entrance coaching before eventually choosing cricket over a conventional career path.
What Disha Kasat Brings to Mumbai Indians
Kasat's signing provides Mumbai Indians with another Indian batting option for WPL 2027. Her experience in domestic cricket and previous exposure to the WPL could help her compete for a place in the team's playing XI. The 29-year-old would also be aiming for more game time as she switches RCB red for the MI blue.
