Pakistan defeated West Indies by 5 wickets in the 1st ODI at Tarouba, chasing down 280 with an unbeaten half-century from debutant Hasan Nawaz.

Hasan Nawaz is a young Pakistani cricketer who made his ODI debut in this match and scored 63* to become the 14th Pakistani to hit a half-century on ODI debut.

Who is Hasan Nawaz?

Hasan Nawaz is a 22-year-old Pakistani cricketer who has swiftly risen to prominence for his aggressive batting style and ability to perform in high-pressure situations. Born on August 21, 2002, in Layyah, South Punjab, he began his cricketing journey with tape-ball cricket in his hometown. Recognizing his potential, he moved to Islamabad in search of better opportunities, where he joined local clubs such as Lucky Star Cricket Club and Lashings Club.

His domestic career took off when he made a big impact in the 2022 Kashmir Premier League (KPL), playing for the Mirpur Royals and finishing among the top run-scorers with an impressive strike rate. He continued to make his mark in Pakistan's National T20 Cup representing Northern, and later in the Pakistan Super League (PSL), where he featured for Islamabad United before joining Quetta Gladiators by 2025.

On the international stage, Hasan Nawaz made his T20I debut for Pakistan in March 2025 against New Zealand. His early international career was not without challenges-he started with two consecutive ducks-but he turned things around spectacularly by smashing an unbeaten 105 off just 44 balls in his third match, breaking Babar Azam's record for the fastest T20I century by a Pakistani.

ODI Debut

He made his ODI debut against the West Indies and scored a composed unbeaten 63, guiding Pakistan to victory and becoming part of the select group of players to score a fifty on ODI debut. The 22-year-old hit 5 fours and 3 sixes to guide his team home.
