Limansa Thilakarathna is making waves in the cricketing world as part of the Sri Lankan team competing in the U19 Women's T20 World Cup.

Her performance in the ongoing U19 Women's T20 World Cup has been nothing short of exceptional. Limansa has taken six wickets in just three matches, maintaining an incredible economy rate of 2.48. She is the second-highest wicket-taker for Sri Lanka in the tournament, only behind Chamodi Prabodha, who has seven wickets to her name.

Who is Limansa Thilakarathna?

Limansa Thilakarathna is a Sri Lanka women's cricketer playing in the U19 Women's T20 World Cup. Born on April 9, 2008, the 16-year-old is a promising all-rounder, showcasing her skills as a left-handed batter and a leg-spinner.

Limansa's journey in cricket so far highlights her talent and dedication. She was also part of Sri Lanka's squad in the U19 Asia Cup held in Malaysia last year. There, she scored 58 runs in four matches, including a top score of 41 not out against Malaysia. However, she couldn't pick up any wickets during that tournament.

In the U19 Women's T20 World Cup, Limansa's bowling has been a game-changer. Her standout performances include-

2-0-3-2 vs Malaysia: Helping Sri Lanka secure a 139-run victory.
3.4-0-7-2 vs West Indies: Aiding Sri Lanka in an 81-run win.
4-0-14-2 vs India: Dismissing key Indian batters Bhavika Ahire and Aayushi Shukla, though Sri Lanka lost by 60 runs.

Limansa is daughter of Sri Lanka legend TM Dilshan

Cricket runs deep in Limansa's veins. Her father, TM Dilshan, is a household name in the cricketing world, renowned for his innovative stroke play and all-round abilities. A former captain of the Sri Lankan men's team, Dilshan left an indelible mark with his iconic "Dil-Scoop," a daring shot played over the wicketkeeper's head. The Sri Lanka legend also played in the IPL, representing Delhi Daredevils, Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the competition.

Dilshan, who also played for the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the Indian Premier League (IPL), is a role model for Limansa. Speaking about her father in a video shared by the ICC, Limansa expressed her admiration.

"Tillakaratne Dilshan, he's my dad. And he's like me as well. I'm pretty proud of that. I really enjoy watching him play-his batting, his bowling, his fielding. He's one of the best fielders and a great all-rounder. He's my favorite cricketer," she said.

Limansa Thilakarathna will next take the field as Sri Lanka competes in the Super Sixes stage of the U19 Women's T20 World Cup. Their first game is against Scotland on January 26, followed by a match against Australia on January 29. With her impressive performances so far, all eyes will be on this young talent as she continues to shine at the global stage.
