Who is Manav Suthar? India hand Debut to Spin-bowling All-Rounder from Rajasthan
India are set to lock horns against Afghanistan in the one-off Test match, which starts from Saturday (June 6) in New Chandigarh.
Manav Suthar makes his Test debut as the Indian team won the Tess and elected to bat first. He becomes the 319th player to represent India in the Red ball format.

Who is Manav Suthar?
Manav Jagdusakumar Suthar is an emerging Indian cricketer known for his classical slow left-arm orthodox spin bowling and useful lower-order batting.
Born on August 3, 2002, in Sri Ganganagar, Rajasthan, the 23-year-old left-handed bowling all-rounder has quickly risen through domestic cricket to earn recognition at higher levels, including with the Gujarat Titans in the IPL and India A.
Early Career and Breakthrough
Suthar made his first-class debut for Rajasthan on his 20th birthday in August 2022 against Andhra Pradesh. He announced himself dramatically in the 2022-23 Ranji Trophy season, claiming 39 wickets in just 6 matches at an average of 20.33 — the highest for his team. His performances featured multiple multi-wicket hauls, including five-wicket and ten-wicket matches.
He has since built a strong red-ball reputation with standout performances: a maiden first-class century of 120 against Himachal Pradesh, a best bowling of 8/33, and impressive spells like 7/49 in the Duleep Trophy and 5/107 for India A against Australia A. Suthar also shone in the 2023 ACC Emerging Teams Asia Cup with 10 wickets.
IPL and Recent Progress
The Gujarat Titans recognized his talent, drafting him in 2024. As of 2026, he has played 5 IPL matches, taking 2 wickets, and was retained for the upcoming season. Though limited in white-ball exposure so far, his domestic consistency has kept him in contention for national honors.
