Who is Ramakrishna Ghosh?

Ramakrishna Ghosh is an Indian cricketing all‑rounder, primarily known for his right‑arm medium‑fast bowling and right‑handed batting. Born on 28 August 1997 in Nashik, Maharashtra, he has grown into one of the more promising domestic bowling all‑rounders in the Indian circuit, with his stock steadily rising through performances in state and franchise‑style cricket. Standing around 5 feet 10 inches tall, he has the build and action suited for sustained spells with the new ball as well as death‑overs deployment.

Ramakrishna Ghosh Role

Ghosh plays mainly as a bowling‑oriented all‑rounder, bringing pace and control from the right‑arm medium‑fast category. His bowling is characterized by a tidy line and length, good seam position, and the ability to pick up wickets in clusters rather than relying solely on express speed. With the bat, he functions mostly in the lower order, though in short‑format leagues he has shown the ability to accelerate and play cameos, including a notable 52‑off‑33‑ball innings in the Maharashtra Premier League 2024.

Domestically, Ramakrishna Ghosh represents Maharashtra in the Ranji Trophy and other senior‑level tournaments. Over recent seasons he has cemented himself as a dependable pacer in the state attack, often entrusted with key overs in both first‑class and limited‑overs cricket. In the 2024/25 Ranji Trophy campaign, for example, he picked up 11 wickets in six matches at an average in the low‑40s and an economy rate hovering around 3.70, reflecting his role as a control‑oriented frontline bowler rather than a pure express‑pace specialist.

His consistent performances in the Maharashtra Premier League put him on the big‑league radar. In MPL 2024, he showcased both his bowling discipline and some unheralded power‑hitting ability, turning heads not just among local fans but also with IPL franchises. That breakthrough IPL‑style exposure led to his selection by Chennai Super Kings, who picked him up in the 2025 auction as a project‑all‑rounder with dual‑role potential.

Ramakrishna left School for Cricket

During an exclusive interview with MyKhel earlier, Ramakrishna revealed that he left school at the age of 16 for cricket, and his father played a key role in it.

"At 16, post-9th grade, my father asked Studies or cricket? I chose cricket. He pulled me from school, and gave my 10th externally. While my friends studied, I trained. That sportsman mindset and seeking improvement, showcasing skills, began there. I am getting the rewards a bit late, but it's all because of that," Ramakrishna said.
