Who Is Replacing Harshit Rana In IPL 2026? What Happened to KKR Star?

Kolkata Knight Riders have named Navdeep Saini as the replacement for injured pacer Harshit Rana ahead of IPL 2026.

Harshit Rana has been ruled out of the entire IPL 2026 season after suffering a serious right knee injury during a T20 World Cup warm-up match earlier this year. The injury required surgical intervention in February 2026, and the young fast bowler is currently undergoing rehabilitation with no confirmed timeline for his return to competitive cricket.

Harshit Rana

The absence of Rana comes as a significant setback for Kolkata Knight Riders, given his growing role in the franchise's pace unit over recent seasons.

Navdeep Saini Named As Harshit Rana's Replacement

To fill the gap left by Rana, Kolkata Knight Riders have brought in experienced Indian pacer Navdeep Saini for INR 75 lakh.

Saini adds valuable experience to the squad, having played 32 IPL matches so far and taken 23 wickets in the tournament. In addition to his IPL record, he has represented India at the international level, picking up 23 wickets across formats.

The right-arm fast bowler began his IPL journey with Delhi Capitals before making a strong impact with Royal Challengers Bengaluru, where he featured prominently across multiple seasons. He later had short stints with Rajasthan Royals before going unsold in recent auctions, making this replacement opportunity crucial for his return to the league.

Harshit Rana's Absence A Major Blow For KKR

Harshit Rana had been expected to play an important role in Kolkata Knight Riders' bowling plans this season. His pace, bounce, and ability to deliver in pressure situations made him a key part of the squad's pace rotation.

KKR had already been managing bowling changes ahead of IPL 2026, and Rana's injury adds further pressure on their pace resources.

With Saini now stepping in, Kolkata Knight Riders will hope the experienced fast bowler can deliver consistent performances and help offset the loss of one of their rising Indian pace prospects as IPL 2026 approaches.
