Born on February 19, 1992, in Pinjore, Haryana, Chauhan is 32 years old as of 2024. Despite his Indian roots, Chauhan holds Estonian nationality and represents Estonia in international cricket.

Sahil Chauhan has become a formidable presence in the Estonian cricket team. Recently, he created a world record by scoring a century off just 27 balls, a feat that sent ripples through the cricketing world.

In a T20 match against Cyprus during the T20 World Cup 2024, Chauhan scored an unbeaten 144 runs from 41 balls, leading his team to chase a target of 192 runs in just 13 overs. This innings included a remarkable 18 sixes, breaking multiple records and showcasing his exceptional hitting prowess.

Record-Breaking Innings and Explosive Performance

During the game against Cyprus, Estonia initially struggled, losing two wickets for nine runs and three wickets for 40 runs. However, batting at number four, Chauhan turned the match around with his explosive batting. He began his innings with a six and maintained an aggressive approach throughout, reaching his half-century in just 14 balls and his century in 27 balls.

His innings not only secured victory for Estonia but also set new benchmarks in T20 cricket. Chauhan's 18 sixes in a single innings surpassed the previous record held by Afghanistan's Hazratullah Zazai and New Zealand's Finn Allen.

Chauhan's performance against Cyprus was historic for several reasons. He broke Chris Gayle's record for the fastest century in T20 cricket, which was previously set at 30 balls during an IPL match in 2013.

Additionally, he shattered the record for the highest score while chasing a target, the highest score by a number four batsman, and the highest score by an associate player in T20 Internationals. "I used to play a lot of cricket in my village back in India," said Chauhan, who hails from Manakpur Devilal village in Haryana. "I started right from the age of 6-7, playing gully cricket and never really stopped," Chauhan told FanCode, the official broadcaster of European Cricket.

"My uncle was the reason I moved to Estonia. He has a small restaurant business and that's where I work. I started playing here in 2019 - I was really bored so I started searching on Google for cricket in Estonia - I found a team's contact information and called them.

"'I asked, "Are you playing cricket?" They replied, "Yes, we play cricket. "So, I said, "Are you serious about this?" They responded, "Yes." That's how I started playing the game here'," Chauhan revealed how he took up cricket in Estonia.

Chauhan is a huge Rohit Sharma fan and looks up to the Indian captain for his range of shots. "I've been a big Rohit Sharma fan since I watched him play, he's a brilliant player who doesn't take any pressure. Regardless of the situation, he always plays his game. I have learned a lot from him. His hook shots are my favourite."
