Sunrisers Hyderabad are up against Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the IPL 2026 opener on Saturday (March 28) at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
SRH are batting first and their captain Ishan Kishan confirmed that Salil Arora is set to feature for them as he makes his IPL debut.

Salil Arora is an Indian wicketkeeper‑batter from Punjab, born on 7 November 2002 in Amritsar, emerging as one of the most promising young talents in Indian domestic cricket and the IPL. Right‑handed and primarily a middle‑order batsman, he represents Punjab in domestic tournaments and was picked up by Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) for ₹1.5 crore in the IPL 2026 auction, underscoring his rising stock.
Arora hails from a cricket‑oriented family, with his father having played district‑level cricket, and he began training on local grounds and school tournaments from a young age. He made his first‑class debut for Punjab against Madhya Pradesh in the Ranji Trophy on 18 October 2024, slamming 101 off 210 balls on debut to rescue his team and earn the Player‑of‑the‑Match award. In nine first‑class matches he has already scored around 450-460 runs at an average just above 40, signalling strong temperament.
Arora made a statement in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2025, blasting an unbeaten 125 off 60‑odd balls against Jharkhand, followed by steady knocks against Andhra and Madhya Pradesh, underlining his explosive T20 ability.
Salil Arora has shown his destructive self in the SRH practice matches as well. He scored a stellar 81 off just 33 balls in one match, and also managed a 47 off just 16 balls. Out of the three innings in the SRH intrasquad matches, he batted at a strike rate of more than 250.
