In Yesterday's Asia Cup 2023 match, Bangladesh defeated India by six runs in a last-over thriller. It was Bangladesh's first win in the Super Fours of the Asia Cup 2023. They were out of the race to qualify for the mega final after losing their first two Super Four matches.

Shardul Thakur (3/65) and Mohammed Shami (2/32) struck early and reduced Bangladesh to 59/4 in 14 overs before Shakib Al Hasan (80) and Towhid Hridoy (54) resurrected the innings. Shardul broke the 101-run partnership by cleaning the stumps of Shakib.

Nasum Ahmed (44 off 45) forged two crucial partnerships of 32 and 45 runs with Hridoy and Mahedi Hasan (29* off 23) respectively to take Bangladesh past 200. The tenth wicket partnership for 27 unbeaten runs off 16 balls between Hasan and Tanzim Hasan Sakib (14* off 8) helped Bangladesh finish at 265/8 in 50 overs.

In reply, India lost their captain Rohit Sharma for a 2-ball duck. Tilak Varma came to bat at three and was debutant Tanzim Hasan Sakib's second wicket. KL Rahul (19), Ishan Kishan (5), Suryakumar Yadav (26) and Ravindra Jadeja (7) also did not show any major restraint.

However, opener Shubman Gill (121) continued scoring briskly and kept on forging mini partnerships with them to take India closer to the total. India were 209/7 in 43.4 overs when Gill was dismissed by Mahedi Hasan.

Axar Patel (42 off 34) took charge and slammed three four and two sixes to take India on the brink of their fourth consecutive win in the Asia Cup 2023 but ended up getting caught out on the fourth ball of the 49th over. India were in need of 12 runs from 8 balls when he left the crease.

With India nine down, Mohammed Shami hit a boundary on the fourth ball of the final over from Tanzim but got run out on the next delivery while trying to steal a double with Prasidh Krishna.
