In Yesterday's Asia Cup 2023 match, India thrashed Sri Lanka by 10 wickets and 263 balls remaining to win the Asia Cup 2023 at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on Sunday. The win was India's biggest ODI win in terms of balls remaining. The match was third shortest in ODI cricket in terms of balls bowled (129).

Sri Lanka won the toss and opted to bat first on a dry surface which was expected to turn after the initial few overs. However, India pacers were on the money from ball one. Jasprit Bumrah (1/23) picked the first wicket in the first over and Mohammed Siraj (6/26) then ran through the Sri Lanka top-order by picking four wickets his second over to reduce home team Sri Lanka to 12/5 in four overs.

He picked another wicket on the fourth ball of the sixth over to complete his five-wicket haul in just 2.4 overs. Siraj cleaning the stumps of captain Dasun Shanaka (0 off 4) saw Sri Lanka getting reduced to 12/6 in 5.4 overs. Siraj dismissed Pathum Nissanka (2), Kusal Mendis (17), Sadeera Samarawickrama (0), Charith Asalanka (0), Dhananjaya de Silva (4) and Shanaka (0).

Later, Hardik Pandya (3/3) also chipped in with three wickets for three runs in 2.2 overs as Sri Lanka were bundled out for 50 in 15.2 overs - their lowest ODI total against India and lowest ODI total in an ODI final.

Ishan Kishan (23* off 18) walked out to bat with Shubman Gill (27* off 19) as Rohit Sharma opted to demote himself in the low scoring game. The duo chased down the 51-run target in just 6.1 overs to hand India their eighth Asia cup title.
