In reply, the opening pair of Dewald Brevis (23 off 20) and Rohit Sharma (68 off 38) collected 53 runs in the powerplay. At the end of eight overs, the five-time champions were well poised at 78/0 but the wicket of Brevis in the following over took the MI innings downhill.
By the 15th over, the likes of Suryakumar Yadav (0), Nehal Wadhera (1) and Hardik Pandya (16) were back in the pavilion and Mumbai were left reeling at 125/5. Ishan Kishan scored 14 off 15, but Naman Dhir took the game deep with his unbeaten 62 off 28. The batter smashed five sixes including one on the last ball of the match.
