MI vs DC: Who Won Yesterday's IPL Match 63: In what turned out to be a one-sided affair under the floodlights at the Wankhede, Mumbai Indians put on a commanding show to dismantle Delhi Capitals by 59 runs in Match 63 of IPL 2025.
With the home crowd behind them and the playoff race heating up, MI's comprehensive win was headlined by a late-innings blitz from Suryakumar Yadav and a clinical bowling effort led by Jasprit Bumrah and Mitchell Santner.

The victory was all but sealed in the final overs of MI's innings, where SKY delivered a masterclass in death-over hitting, before the bowling unit decimated a lacklustre DC batting line-up. The Capitals, chasing 181, folded meekly for just 121, extending their woes in a season riddled with inconsistency. MI, in contrast, continue to surge with momentum at just the right time.
It was a tale of consolidation and explosion for Mumbai. After being put into bat, the hosts lost Rohit Sharma early, but a stable partnership between Rickelton (25 off 18) and Will Jacks (21 off 13) kept the innings afloat. However, it was Suryakumar Yadav's magnificent knock of 73 not out off 43 balls, featuring 7 fours and 4 sixes, that changed the game entirely.
MI were struggling at 133/5 after 18 overs, but SKY's breathtaking display in the final two overs - smashing 47 runs off just 12 deliveries - took the total to a formidable 180. He reserved special treatment for Mukesh Kumar and Dushmantha Chameera, whose final overs were plundered for 27 and 20 runs respectively.
The chase never really took off for DC. Trent Boult struck early to remove Faf du Plessis (6), and KL Rahul followed soon after. By the fourth over, Delhi were tottering at 27/3.
Mitchell Santner was exceptional in the middle overs, picking up three wickets - including the dangerous Sameer Rizvi and Vipraj Nigam - while giving away just 11 runs in his four overs. Bumrah added the finishing touches with figures of 3/20, and Karn Sharma chipped in with a crucial breakthrough.
Sameer Rizvi's 39 off 35 was the only significant resistance, while Vipraj Nigam's 20 off 11 was a flash in the pan. The rest of the lineup collapsed under scoreboard pressure, folding in 18.2 overs.
Each award carried a prize of ₹1 lakh, recognising stellar individual brilliance in an otherwise one-sided contest.
At 133/5 after 18 overs, MI were poised for a below-par finish. That’s when Suryakumar Yadav unleashed his full range, scoring 47 runs off the last 12 deliveries he faced. It completely shifted the game’s momentum, ballooning the total to an intimidating 180 – a score that proved more than sufficient against DC’s brittle lineup.
While Suryakumar’s fireworks stole the limelight, it was Santner’s miserly spell of 4-1-11-3 that strangled the DC middle order. His smart variations and control built immense pressure, leading to a cascade of wickets. Santner also delivered a league-high 16 dot balls in the innings, underscoring his impact.

This win pushes Mumbai Indians further up the table, solidifying their claim to a playoff spot with just one game left in the group stage. For Delhi Capitals, it was a night of more questions than answers – particularly in the batting department. With the business end of the tournament looming, they’ll need a dramatic turnaround to remain in contention.
As the Wankhede echoed with chants for 'SKY’, it served as a reminder that when Suryakumar Yadav is in full flight, few teams can weather the storm.
