GT vs LSG, Who Won Yesterday's IPL Match 64: It was a night of power-hitting, clinical execution, and some strategic brilliance as Lucknow Super Giants dismantled Gujarat Titans by 33 runs in a high-octane clash at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad on May 22.
With the IPL 2025 playoffs race heating up, Match 64 provided fireworks aplenty as Mitchell Marsh headlined a dominant LSG performance with a blistering century, leaving GT to chase shadows under their home lights.

Gujarat Titans, despite winning the toss and opting to bowl, found themselves outclassed in nearly all departments. Lucknow rode on Marsh’s majestic 117 and Nicholas Pooran’s explosive 56* to post a mammoth 235/2 – a target too steep even for Gujarat’s star-studded line-up. In response, GT’s valiant chase ended at 202/9, with Shahrukh Khan’s fiery 57 and Rutherford’s 38 offering late hope before LSG’s bowling depth sealed the deal.
After being put in to bat, LSG began steadily before exploding in the middle and death overs. Aiden Markram laid a steady foundation with 36 off 24 balls. Then came the Marsh storm – an innings of brute power and calculated risk. His 117 off 64 balls included 10 fours and 8 sixes, demolishing Gujarat’s bowling attack.
Nicholas Pooran added the finishing touches with a sensational 56* off 27 balls, hammering 4 fours and 5 sixes. Their partnership ensured LSG posted a daunting 235/2 – a total brimming with confidence and intent.
GT’s chase got off to a patchy start as Sai Sudharsan fell early. Captain Shubman Gill and Jos Buttler tried to counter-attack but fell in quick succession. Rutherford (38 off 22) and Shahrukh Khan (57 off 29) injected life into the chase with a flurry of boundaries. At 182/3 in the 16th over, GT had a sniff.
But LSG’s bowlers, led by O’Rourke and supported by Shahbaz Ahmed and Badoni, applied the brakes just in time. The Titans collapsed from 182/3 to 202/9, losing six wickets for just 20 runs in the final four overs.

O’Rourke’s Ice-Cool Over Sinks GT’s Momentum
At 182/3 in 16 overs, Gujarat Titans were within striking distance with Sherfane Rutherford going strong. But William O’Rourke’s return in the 17th over changed the game. He removed Rutherford with a short-of-a-length ball caught superbly by Ravi Bishnoi at deep mid-wicket. O’Rourke followed up with two more scalps, snuffing out Gujarat’s last hopes.
Ayush Badoni’s Golden Arm and Game Awareness
Though not a frontline bowler, Ayush Badoni’s solitary over yielded two crucial wickets – Rabada and Sai Kishore – at the death, derailing GT’s chase. His calm under pressure and ability to strike with the ball when least expected made him the silent match-winner.
