Ravindra Jadeja hasn't been the ideal finisher for India in T20Is and the management hasn't accepted the fact, former opener Aakash Chopra has reckoned ahead of India's T20 World Cup 2024 opener against Ireland on Wednesday, June 6.
Talking about the concerns of the Indian cricket team ahead of the match at Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York, Aakash Chopra discarded the idea of considering Ravindra Jadeja for the role of finisher.

"Ravindra Jadeja is not your finisher. We thrust him in that role, but he isn't very good at it. We haven't even accepted the fact that he isn't a good finisher and that is a problem," Aakash Chopra told JioCinema.
The cricketer-turned-commentator also expressed concerns over Shivam Dube's batting form. The hard-hitting batter was picked in the squad on the back of some stunning innings for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the IPL 2024.
However, his performance dipped immediately after being picked in the squad. He was dismissed for 14 off 16 in India's only warm-up game against Bangladesh in New York on June 1. Chopra also predicted that India's fielding could also be problematic at the T20 World Cup 2024.
"The second concern is Shivam Dube's form, which is cold right now. A thumbs up for us is Hardik Pandya's form. He's back. He's looking really good while batting. Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and of course, Rishabh Pant and Suryakumar Yadav, it's all looking great. The two areas of concern are Shivam Dube and Ravindra Jadeja with the bat. Another concern is our fielding, which I think could be problematic," Aakash Chopra said.
India are in hunt of their first ICC title since 2013. They have been named in Group A alongside Pakistan, USA, Canada and Ireland in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024. India lost to England in the semi-final of the last edition of the T20 World Cup in 2022.
