In a bizarre and one of a kind incident, New Zealand Women off-spinner Eden Carson ended up bowling 11 overs in an ODI match against Sri Lanka Women in the ICC Championship in Galle on Friday, June 30.
Carson bowled the 45th over during Sri Lanka's 330-run chase and thereby finished her quota of 10 overs with figures of two for 40. However, she returned back to bowl the 47th over as the on-field umpires failed to maintain the over count of the 21-year-old Otago-born cricketer.

Carson's 11th over saw her bowl five dot balls and give away just a single. However, the goof up from the umpires did not have any major impact on the result. The game had already slipped away from Sri Lanka Women before the start of Carson's 11th over.
114 runs were required off the final four overs with the last batting pair in the middle. Fran Jonas struck on the fourth ball of the 49th over as New Zealand Women bundled out Sri Lanka for 218 and won the match by 111 runs.
Earlier in the match, Melie Kerr and captain Sophie Devine slammed a hundred each to help New Zealand post 329/7 in 50 overs. With the win New Zealand have levelled the 3-match series 1-1. The decider will be played at the same venue on Monday.
