Rahul Dravid is poised to leave his duties as head coach of India. The former Indian batter is unlikely to continue at the helm and the World Cup 2023 Final was his last match as India coach.
VVS Laxman is likely to replace Dravid and take up the permanent role from the South Africa tour.

Rahul Dravid had a decent outing as India's coach. Under his tutelage, India got to the WTC and World Cup Final, and also were crowned as Asia Cup champions. Dravid's contract was up after the World Cup, but BCCI was happy to extend it. But why did the former India captain decide to leave his current role? Two reasons are floating around regarding that.
Rahul Dravid had decided not to go with the same workload that is required for team India's coach. He has been an Indian player for almost a couple of decades and now two years of coaching the Indian team has taken a toll. The former Indian player doesn't want to go with the same routine that is required for an Indian coach, which involves a lot of travelling across the world.
Dravid is reportedly happy to work at the NCA which will allow him to stay in his hometown Bengaluru. The former India player is also keen to coach the Indian team sporadically but won't take a permanent role.
Rahul Dravid has been reportedly looking to seek pastures new. After a two-year stint as an Indian coach, the former India player is looking for different options. According to some sources, Dravid has already talked with a few O{L teams and a coaching role in any of the franchises can come ahead of the new season.
He has already worked as a coach at Rajasthan Royals and is keen to repeat the stint at any franchise. As IPL requires an involvement of three to four months, the timeline is more suited for Dravid at the moment.
Whatever role Dravid chooses next, it is going to be a big one. Another stint as NCA means the responsibility of nurturing the youth players will be again in his hands. A stint in the IPL will also be a welcome change for him, but it will be again in the thick of all the travelling and hectic schedule, only for a lesser period of time.
