A cloud of controversy surrounds former Indian cricketer Robin Uthappa, as an arrest warrant has been issued against him.
The Bengaluru-born cricketer, known for his explosive batting style and a part of the T20 World Cup winning team in 2007 has found himself in the mud for an alleged fraud to his employees.

Robin Uthappa is accused of defrauding employees and the government as part of his role as the director of Centaurus Lifestyle Brands Private Limited.
Uthappa, as the director of Centaurus Lifestyle Brands, is accused of failing to remit Provident Fund contributions that were deducted from employees' salaries. This alleged failure has led to significant financial distress for the employees, as the company reportedly owes ₹23.36 lakh in damages.
The Regional Provident Fund Commissioner, Shadakshiri Gopala Reddy, has stated that the non-remittance of PF dues has caused distress to the employees as the non-payment from the company meant the PF Commissioner couldn't execute the payments.
The case involves multiple violations under the Employees' Provident Funds (EPF) and Miscellaneous Provisions (MP) Act, 1952. A letter from the commissioner, dated December 4, 2024, directed the Pulakeshi Nagar Police to execute an arrest warrant for Uthappa.
When Karnataka Police visited Uthappa's Bengaluru residence in Pulakeshinagar to serve the arrest warrant, they discovered that the cricketer no longer resides there.
The former India player has been living in Dubai with his family for over a year. According to Gulf News, he moved to Dubai permanently in early 2023 after securing a Golden Visa.
The relocation, initially intended as a temporary stay for family well-being, became permanent after Uthappa's wife, Sheethal Goutham, faced health challenges following a difficult pregnancy. Uthappa himself shared in an interview last year that the move was motivated by the need for a change of environment and mentioned that he left Bengaluru after a traumatic experience due to Bengaluru's traffic.
