Andre Russell has returned in the big stage for West Indies as the Caribbean boys are playing against Papua New Guinea in their first match of the T20 World Cup 2024.

Andre Russell announced his availability for West Indies in the competition, and was then subsequently picked in the squad. And Russell has shown his mettle in the very first match.

The Kolkata Knight Riders star had a good outing with the ball, where he picked up 2 wickets. Russell got Charles Amini dismissed and then Chad Soper as well to round off a spell of 2 for 19 in three overs.

Andre Russell reach 50 T20I Wickets

As Russell dismissed Charles Amini, he reached a significant milestone in his career. Amini's wicket was Russell's 50th in T20I cricket. The West Indies all-rounder now has 51 wickets in 76 matches.

Russell had a superb season with KKR in the IPL 2024, where he scored more than 200 runs and also picked up 19 wickets in a triumphant season for the Knight Riders. After Russell's 50th wicket, fans expressed their love for the 36-year-old on X (formerly Twitter).

Kolkata Knight Riders wished their man on the X as he appeared for West Indies in an ICC tournament after a long time.
