West Indies started off their T20 World Cup campaign with a 5-wicket victory over Papua New Guinea (PNG) on Sunday (June 2), but it is the minnows who have drawn all the accolades.

The Guyana stadium witnessed a scratchy affair between the co-hosts and the minnows. PNG managed 136 runs after batting first, and caused jitters among the West Indies fans.

A superb bowling effort from the PNG side halted the run chase of the Windies, who couldn't get going and kept on losing wickets. With 40 needed in the last four overs, Roston Chase came to the rescue for the hosts and took them home with a sublime knock.

But the effort from the PNG boys didn't go unnoticed. The fans, experts hailed the Oceanian side. It was a valiant effort from them and they could have pulled off a gigantic win. Assad Vala, the PNG captain said they missed a trick in the post-match presentation.
