WI eyeing ODI series against India

Rajkot, Jan 17 (PTI) After winning two of first threeOne-day Internationals at Mumbai and Vadodara, West Indieswomen''s cricket team is eyeing to clinch the five-match ODIseries against India when they play the fourth game at theMadhavrao Scindia Cricket ground here.

The visitors started off well by beating Indiacomprehensively in the opening match and then won the thirdODI after losing second in Vadodara.

India captain Jhulan Goswami admitted that the team didnot play as per expectations.

"We failed to maintain momentum after winning the secondODI but we are hoping to level the series in the fourth gameby playing good and positive cricket," Goswami told reportershere.

"We have the potential but we need to play as a team,"she said, adding that even the half chances are needed to beconverted into success if they wanted to stay in the hunt.

Goswami, who was concerned about the fielding standardsof the team, said, "Our fielding has not been good in firstthree matches and we are really work hard on it. We wouldhopefully lift ourselves up in that department tomorrow."

The West Indies, who have gained a 2-1 lead, now look topocket the ODI series by winning tomorrow''s game.

Captain Merissa Aguilleira said despite playing in thetough sub-continent conditions, the team has done well so far.

"We have played as a team and everyone knows theirrole," Merissa said.

"Tomorrow''s game would obviously be an important matchfor both the teams but we are now much prepared in thiscondition and everyone has a specific role to play in allimportant games," she said.

However, the visitors skipper is a bit worried about ofthe Indian spin department.

"The opposition has a good variety in spin departmentwhich can make the difference," she said
