India T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav is reportedly considering retiring from international cricket after the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026, according to multiple media reports.
The 35-year-old currently leads India in the tournament, where the team has reached the final against New Zealand. However, speculation has emerged that the tournament could mark the final chapter of his international career.

According to reports citing sources close to the situation, Suryakumar is likely to announce his retirement from international cricket after the T20 World Cup.
The reports claim the decision is being considered due to his limited opportunities across formats and the presence of several younger players waiting for opportunities in the Indian setup.
However, neither the player nor the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has made any official statement on the matter so far.
Suryakumar currently plays only T20Is for India and has not featured in Test cricket.
His chances of returning to the ODI team are also considered slim, with several in-form batters competing for places in the 50-over format.
This situation has reportedly influenced discussions around his long-term role in the national team.
Reports have also pointed to a dip in Suryakumar's batting form in recent tournaments.
During the ongoing T20 World Cup, the Indian captain scored a match-winning 84 not out in the opening game against the USA but has struggled to produce big scores consistently afterward.
Across eight matches in the tournament, he has scored 242 runs at an average of 34.37 and a strike rate of 137.50.
If Suryakumar does decide to retire after the tournament, it could open the door for younger players in India's white-ball setup.
Several players, including Shreyas Iyer, are seen as potential candidates to take on bigger roles in the team moving forward.
Reports also suggest that the BCCI is generally reluctant to allow players to continue in the national side solely on the basis of captaincy if their place in the playing XI becomes uncertain.
Despite the speculation, there has been no official confirmation regarding Suryakumar Yadav's future.
For now, the Indian captain remains focused on the immediate task of leading the team in the T20 World Cup final against New Zealand.
