Bangkok, Nov 29: India completed a hat-trick of wins as they defeated Pakistan by 5 wickets in the Asian Cricket Council Women's Twenty20 Asia Cup here at Asian Institute of Technology Ground today (November 29).
Indian women refuse to play against Pakistan; BCCI furious at ICC
Chasing 98 runs in 20 overs, India reached the target with 4 balls to spare (98/5 in 19.2 overs). Opener Mithali Raj topscored with 36 runs (57 balls, 3x4). Captain Harmanpreet Kaur remained unbeaten on 26 (22 balls, 3x4).
Earlier, Ekta Bisht took 3 wickets while Anuja Patil and Harmanpreet had 2 scalps each as India restricted Pakistan to 97/7 in 20 overs. Nain Abidi was the highest scorer for Pakistan with 37 not out (41 balls).
With this latest win, third in a row, Indian women are on top of the points table with 6 points. Pakistan are second with 4 points.
There are six teams in the tournament. Hosts Thailand, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Nepal are the other four. India next face Sri Lanka on December 1. The final is on December 4.
Recently, the International Cricket Council (ICC) had docked points from India for refusing to play against Pakistan in the ICC Women's Championship One Day tournament. Since that controversy, this was India's first match against Pakistan in a multi-nation tournament.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) was upset with ICC for docking points for the team against "forfeiture".
