South Africa topple England in Cape Town to make history as the Proteas reached the first final of an ICC tournament in their history.

It was a magical afternoon at the Newlands as the hosts sealed a famous victory by 6 runs against one of the tournament favourites England.

Here are some of the key performers from the Women's T20 WC semi-final between South Africa and England-

Tazmin Brits:

Tazmin Brits took the onus on herself to dismantle the English attack from the start. The Proteas opener took charge and stitched a superb 96-run partnership for the opening wicket with Laura Wolvaardt. Brits went on to score a decorated inning of 68 runs off just 55 balls, hitting 6 fours and 2 sixes in that.

She was key in the field as well. She completed four catches as the home side held on to get their victory. And one of them was a brilliant one-handed grab to dismiss Alice Capsey, which was key to changing the momentum of the game as England had a stormy start. The 32-year-old was deservedly given the player of the match award for her fantastic performance.

Ayabonga Khaka:

Another front-runner for the player of the match award was Ayabonga Khaka. The medium pacer restricted the English batting in the latter overs, but her final over completely changed the game in South Africa's favour. Khaka bowled the 18th over and picked up three wickets in that, dismissing Amy Jones, Sophie Ecclestone and Katherine Sciver-Brunt.

It was quite simply the turning point which shifted the balance towards the home team. Khaka finished the match with stunning figures of 4/29 in her four overs. On a day when Nonkululeko Mlaba had an off day, Khaka stepped up and played a crucial part in her country's monumental win.

Shabnim Ismail:

The veteran pacer has a nerve of steel, and she proved that yet again in the biggest match. Ismail picked up the dangerous Sophia Dunkley and Alice Capsey to change the momentum after England's blistering start with the bat. She came back and bowled some tight overs, and was given the task to bowl the final over with England needing 13 runs to win.

Ismail showed her class and experience, and knocked over the stumps of English captain Heather Knight. With the wicket of Knight, England's last resort was uprooted, and she finished off a fantastic final over, just giving away 7 runs in the process.

The 34-year-old Proteas bowler ended up with figures of 3/27 in her full quota of overs.
