Women's Asia Cup 2026: Harmanpreet Kaur hails team India after mauling Pakistan in Emphatic fashion

India captain Harmanpreet Kaur praised her team's all-round performance after their emphatic seven-wicket victory over Pakistan in the Women's Asia Cup 2026.

India's bowlers set up the victory by dismissing Pakistan for 55. Sree Charani and Prema Rawat picked up three wickets each, while Deepti Sharma claimed two as Pakistan's batting line-up struggled throughout the innings.

Reflecting on the performance, Harmanpreet highlighted the bowlers' ability to stick to their plans while adapting to the conditions.

"All the bowlers, they were outstanding. They are sticking to their plans and bowling according to their plans and reading the pitch really well. I think that is the key, understanding the pitch and then executing your plans accordingly," she said at the post-match presentation.

India's chase was not entirely without resistance. Pakistan captain Fatima Sana claimed three wickets, but India remained composed and completed the chase inside nine overs. Harmanpreet acknowledged that losing three wickets was part of the game and emphasised the importance of staying at the crease and finishing the contest quickly.

"I think it's part of the game. They also bowled a few good balls, and I think the important (thing) was just being there, just keep batting and finish the game as soon as possible," she added.

The victory also extended India's unbeaten run in the tournament and confirmed their place in the semi-finals. With the knockout stage approaching, Harmanpreet said maintaining the team's standards would remain a priority.

"It's very important, keeping our standards high. We know what this team brings when we go to the field, and I think I'm really happy (with) the way everybody is coming up and showing up good performances, and now another two games, hopefully we'll keep playing our best cricket," the India skipper concluded.

The Pakistan match was particularly significant for Harmanpreet as she led India for the 150th time in T20Is, becoming the first cricketer to captain a national side in 150 T20I matches.

India's latest victory was their third successive win in the competition, following their victories over Thailand and Hong Kong. India will now look to carry their momentum into the semi-finals as they continue their pursuit of another Women's Asia Cup title.
