Melbourne Renegades clinched their maiden Women's Big Bash League title following a 7-run (DLS Method) victory over Brisbane Heat in the WBBL 10 final at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) in Melbourne on Sunday (December 1).
Put into bat in the rain-hit title clash at the MCG, Melbourne Renegades rode on Hayley Matthews' 69 off 61 balls to post a total of 141 for 9 in their allotted 20 overs. Georgia Wareham (21 off 21 balls) and Naomi Stalenberg (16 off 12 balls) also made handy contributions for the Renegades.

For the Heat, Charli Knott was the pick of the bowlers, finishing with figures of 3 for 28 in 4 overs. Grace Parsons also claimed two wickets, while Nicola Hancock, Lucy Hamilton and skipper Jess Jonassen chipped in with a wicket-a-piece.
The second innings was reduced to 12 overs with the target set at 98. The Heat, however, faltered at the start before captain Jonassen tried her best, but her unbeaten 44 off 28 balls went in vain as the Renegades restricted their opponents to 90/6 to claim the win.
Matthews was once again the standout for the Renegades with the ball as well, topping the wicket-takers charts with figures of 2 for 24, while Charis Bekker, Milly Illingworth, Deandra Dottin and skipper Sophie Molineux claimed a wicket each.
This was Melbourne Renegades' first-ever title win in the Big Bash. They finished last in the 2023 season, and have bounced back with the title, while this was Brisbane Heat's second successive final loss. Here's the WBBL 2024 full list of award winners followed by records and stats from the season:
