Bengaluru, February 10: The Women's T20 World Cup 2023 in South Africa will start with the group stage matches on Friday (February 10) at the Newlands Cricket Ground in Cape Town.

The eighth edition of the World Cup opens with hosts South Africa taking on Sri Lanka, the first of 23 matches to be played over 15 days, as 10 teams battle it out to be crowned champions on 26 February.

The show-piece tournament will initially see 10 teams divided into two groups of 5 play in single round-robin matches with group winner and runner up progressing to the knock out rounds.

As for the groups, hosts South Africa have been drawn alongside record champions Australia, New Zealand, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh in Group A, while India are in Group B with arch-rivals Pakistan, former champions England and West Indies as well as Ireland.

The knock out round will include the two semifinals followed by the final. The three knock out stage matches will be held after the completion of the group stage on February 21. The semifinals will take place on February 23 and 24, while the final will be held on February 26.
