Women's T20 World Cup 2024: Can India Women qualify for the semi-finals? Can India Women beat Australia Women? We will have the answer in the next 12 hours as the two teams lock horns in their respective final Women's T20 World Cup 2024 match at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium on Sunday, October 13.
India Women find themselves in a tricky situation, and their 58-run defeat against New Zealand in the tournament is the sole reason for all the disarray. A mere win against Australia Women won't help them qualify for the Women's T20 World Cup semi-final.

An outright 61-run win against Group A table-toppers Australia will see India automatically qualify for the semi-finals, and the result of Monday's Group A match between third-placed New Zealand Women and fourth-placed Pakistan Women will not be their concern.
If they lose by less than 16 runs, their Net Run Rate (NRR) of +0.576 will remain ahead of New Zealand, but then they would have to hope that Pakistan beat New Zealand. Both the qualification scenarios are tough for India Women.
As per the second scenario, India Women will be through to the semi-finals if they beat Australia by 20 runs, and hope that New Zealand's victory margin over Pakistan is not more than 37 runs. This could be the best possible semi-finals qualification scenario for India Women.
India Women and Australia Women have played 34 T20I matches against each other till date. India Women have managed to win only seven of those matches.
Talking about the last five T20Is, India Women have won just one. Australia Women have won their last two T20I matches against India. The Harmanpreet Kaur-led side also perished under pressure against Australia in the semi-final of T20 World Cup 2023. They also lost against them in the final of the 2020 edition of the Women's T20 World Cup.
Further, India Women would be playing their first match in Sharjah in the ongoing Women's T20 World Cup 2024. They have played each of their first three matches in Dubai so far. On the other hand, Australia Women have played two of their three matches in Sharjah, and therefore they are more aware of the conditions.
Australia Women are one of the only two unbeaten sides in the 10-team tournament. Each of their three wins have been comprehensive, and despite the uncertainty of their captain Alyssa Healy's participation, they are the favourites to beat India Women.
India Women batting unit hasn't yet come up with a complete performance. They scored 172/3 in their last match, but Harmanpreet Kaur's 27-ball fifty should be given the most of the credit. The India Women captain has looked impressive, but her team can hope for a win against the defending champions only if they come up with a collective batting effort. Creating the scoreboard pressure is the best way out for India Women.
