New Zealand on Sunday (October 20) lifted their first-ever Women's T20 World Cup title following a 32-run victory over South Africa in the 2024 title clash at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai.
The White Ferns rode on Suzy Bates and Amelia Kerr's knocks to reach 158/5, batting first in the final, before Kerr returned to star with the ball to seal the contest in her team's favour.

Bates scored 32, while Amelia Kerr added 43 and shared a stand with Brooke Halliday who made 38. Kerr then took 3 for 24 and Rosemary Mair finished with 3 for 25 as New Zealand restricted South Africa to 126-9.
The title triumph saw New Zealand take home the biggest ever prize money in the women's T20 World Cup so far. ICC had lifted the total prize pool for the 2024 edition to an impressive $7,958,080 (US$) - more than double that of the 2023 edition.
So, how much did teams earn? What do the champions, runners up, semi-finalists and group stage teams take home after the tournament? Here is a look at the Women's T20 World Cup 2024 prize money breakdown:
Members of the New Zealand White Ferns cricket team will split prize money of around USD 2.3 million, which works out at around USD 155,000 or NZD 256,000 per team member.
The Protea women's team will take home $1.17 million for finishing as runners up, while former champions and losing semi-finalists Australia and West Indies will take home $675,000 each.
Apart from the aforementioned four teams, the other six teams also take home some part of the total prize money despite group stage exits. There is a base prize of $112,500 awarded to all 10 participating teams, totalling $1.125 million.
India, England, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Scotland have earned USD 112,500 in addition to their positional prize money as well as the cash reward for winning a game in the tournament.
Teams finishing fifth to eighth will earn $270,000 each, and teams finishing ninth and 10th earn $135,000 each. So, no team walked away empty handed, including Sri Lanka and Scotland, who drew a blank in the group stage.
Coming back to the 2024 edition final, the result meant New Zealand won their first-ever T20 World Cup as South Africa's wait continued. New Zealand's win was a massive surprise as the White Ferns had lost 10 consecutive T20 matches before the tournament.
