Women's T20 World Cup Semifinal Scenario: How can India qualify for Semis after defeating Pakistan?

After a defeat in the first match against New Zealand, the Indian women cricket team have rallied back to form in the Women's T20 World Cup with a convincing victory over Pakistan on Sunday (October 6).

India registered a victory by 6 wickets in Dubai on Sunday to get their first win in the group stages, After restricting Pakistan to just 105 runs, the Indian team chased the target down with more than an over to spare.

The first match against the Kiwis cast a lot of doubts over India's participation in the semifinals, but a win over Pakistan has brought in a huge respite in the Indian camp.

India have bolstered their chances of qualifying for the semifinals after the victory over Pakistan.

How can India qualify for the Semifinals in the Women's T20 WC?

India currently sit 4th in the Group A points table with 2 points in two matches. With two teams advancing to the semifinals from each group, the Indian team will have to continue their winning run in the next two matches. India's next match is against Sri Lanka (Oct 9) and then the final match against reigning champions Australia (Oct 13).

With Australia and New Zealand winning their first two matches, India will have to win their next two matches to secure qualification for the T20 World Cup semis. With an inferior Net Run Rate compared to the other teams, India will also have to register a win by a big margin in one of their next two matches, preferably against Sri Lanka.

Also, they will be helped immensely Sri Lanka can pull off a stunning win over New Zealand in their final group stage match. Also Pakistan's results in the next two matches against Australia and New Zealand will have an impact in India's chances as well.
