T20 World Cup Free U-18 Entry Tickets at 5 Dirhams

ICC's Initiative for Youth Engagement

ICC Chief Executive Geoff Allardice revealed that the lowest ticket price would be 5 Dirhams. This initiative aims to leave a lasting legacy of the ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2024, marking the first global women's cricket event in the region.

"One of the exciting things about the UAE is its diversity. It’s a place where the entire world is represented! This means that this is effectively a home World Cup for all 10 teams and players can enjoy the support of passionate fans," Allardice stated.

Allardice further expressed his excitement about making tickets affordable and accessible. "With that in mind, I’m delighted to announce today that tickets will be available from just five Dirhams and under 18s will go free," he added. The ICC will collaborate with the Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) and the Dubai Sports Council to ensure a lasting impact from this event.

Collaborative Efforts for a Memorable Event

ECB Board Member Zaid Abbas mentioned their eagerness to work closely with the ICC and the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), who were the original hosts of the tournament. The ECB aims to ensure that both participants and fans have an unforgettable experience during their stay in the UAE.

The tournament's group stage will see Group A featuring six-time champions Australia, along with India, New Zealand, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka. Group B includes Bangladesh, England, South Africa, West Indies, and Scotland. The league matches will be divided between Dubai and Sharjah, with semi-finals scheduled for October 17 and 18 in these cities. The final match will be held in Dubai.

Support from Local Authorities

Allardice also thanked local authorities for their support. "I would like to thank the ECB and our friends at the Dubai Sports Council as well as the teams at the Dubai International Stadium and Sharjah Cricket Stadium for their extraordinary efforts," he said. He also released a video showcasing a spectacular laser show at the tournament at Burj Khalifa.

This initiative by ICC aims to attract larger crowds to women's cricket by making it more accessible to younger audiences. The collaboration between various cricket boards and local authorities highlights a collective effort to promote women's cricket globally.

The decision to offer free entry for those under 18 years old is expected to boost attendance and create a vibrant atmosphere at the matches. With affordable ticket prices and strategic partnerships, the ICC hopes to make this T20 World Cup a memorable event for all involved.
