India Champions suffered a slight hiccup in their World Championship of Legends 2024 semi-final qualification hopes after back-to-back defeats in the round-robin phase of the inaugural edition of the T20 tournament in the past few days.
Yuvraj Singh-led India Champions opened their campaign with wins over England and West Indies, but suffered defeats to arch-rivals Pakistan and Australia in the recent two fixtures.

While they remained in the top four despite the loss to Australia on Monday (July 8), the Indian side has been dealt with a huge blow to their Net Run Rate (NRR) which could be crucial at the end of the tournament as three teams may finish on same points.
A 100-run loss to Pakistan on Saturday (July 6) at the Edgbaston Cricket Ground in Birmingham followed by a 23-run loss to Australia at the County Cricket Ground in Northampton, left India with a negative NRR.
However, the India Champions, who have one more game left to play in the league phase, may have all but sealed their top four spot even before they took the field for their final league game. Here is how India can confirm their spot in the top four:
India, currently in third position with 4 points and a NRR of -0.826, need to defeat South Africa in their last league match on Wednesday (July 10) to consolidate their position on the WCL points table and seal a semi-final spot without, having to worry about NRR.
Yuvraj's side received favour from Australia, who handed West Indies a thumping loss in the earlier fixture to dent the Men in Maroon's NRR and pushed them to fourth place. But a massive loss against South Africa could see the Indian Champions slip out of the top four
India will need to win against South Africa in their final round-robin fixture or avoid a defeat of a margin more than 57 when chasing in the fixture at County Cricket Ground in Northampton to keep their title dream alive.
India could face either Pakistan or Australia in their last four clash. India can only finish third at best. If they finish third, they will face arch-rivals Pakistan, who finished second on the points table, in the second semi-final.
However, if they finish fourth, they will face Australia in the last four clash. Fans would have preferred a India vs Pakistan final, but will have to settle for a semi-final meeting between the rivals.
