"CAPTAIN. LEADER. LEGEND! Sarfaraz Ahmed is bringing his winning mentality to Pakistan Champions for WCL Season 2," the team posted on their official Instagram handle along with a video clip.

The 37-year-old brings a wealth of experience, not only as a player but also as a leader, having captained Pakistan to the 2017 Champions Trophy. Under his leadership, Pakistan also won 11 consecutive T20 series.

In the inaugural season of the WCL, Pakistan Champions team featured the likes of Shahid Afridi, Younis Khan, Shoaib Malik, Kamran Akmal, Misbah Ul Haq, Sohail Tanvir, Sharjeel Khan, Wahab Riaz and Saeed Ajmal among others.

Under Younis Khan's leadership, Pakistan Champions lost only two matches in season 1. In the first edition, Pakistan reached the final, but lost to their rivals India in a thrilling final. India emerged victorious, chasing down a target of 157 runs with 5 wickets and 5 balls to spare.

With the addition of Sarfaraz, Pakistan Champions will hope to better their run in the second season, which also sees the addition of another legend in former South Africa captain AB de Villiers.

De Villiers announced that he will be part of the South Africa Champions team for the second edition of the World Championship of Legends. AB de Villiers will lead the South African squad in the WCL, featuring legendary players like Jacques Kallis, Herschelle Gibbs, Dale Steyn, and Imran Tahir.

WCL season 2 will kick off with a clash between the England Champions and Pakistan Champions at Edgbaston Stadium in Birmingham on July 18. The tournament will feature a total of 6 teams like in the first edition.

Australia and West Indies will be the other teams competing in the tournament alongside India, Pakistan, South Africa and England. The much-awaited India vs Pakistan clash is set for July 20, while the semi-finals will take place on July 31, with the grand final scheduled for August 2.
