WC 2015: Besides Kohli, journalist Mayanti Langer also sparks a controversy, says report

Perth, March 4: While ace cricketer Virat Kohli found himself in the middle of a controversy on Tuesday after he lost his cool and abused an Indian journalist over a report about him and his actor girlfriend Anushka Sharma, another controversy cropped up around TV sports journalist Mayanti Langer, who is also the wife of cricketer Stuart Binny.

According to a report in Anandabazaar Patrika, Langer, who is covering the ICC World Cup as the anchor of a sports channel, was seen working for the shoots near where the Indian and West Indian players were training.

She took interviews of Chris Gayle and Curtley Ambrose, the current and former West Indian cricketers, respectively, and was also seen sitting with the channel crew on the sidelines of the training ground when the Indian players were practising. The team management then asked her to sit somewhere else.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India has decided not to allow wives and girlfriends of the cricketers to accompany them at the World Cup. The board later said that it would reconsider the decision and allow the wives and girlfriends to accompany the cricketers if India reach the quarterfinals.

India have so far won all the three games they have played at the World Cup. On March 6, they will take on the West Indies at the WACA Ground here. A win in this match will secure a berth for them in the quarterfinals.
