WC 2015: Hope Arnab Goswami knows now why losing to Australia was no shame

Posted By:

Hope, Arnab Goswami, the editor-in-chief of Times Now, perhaps the country's most noisy national news channel, now understands that losing to Australia is not a shame. The television journalist was recently blasted after his channel, without giving it a second thought, started criticising the Indian cricket time after their 95-loss to Australia in the semifinal of the World Cup.

In a prime time debate, Goswami and a few other gentlemen questioned the Indian cricket team's commitment and accountability after they went down to a far more superior team and that too in their own den.

The channel started spreading negative campaigns with words like "Shamed In Sydney" and "Abject Surrender", inviting a serious backlash from all across. The unfortunate part was that the news channel made this move after India lost just one out of their last 12 matches in the World Cup.

Now after Australia winning the trophy comprehensively, does Goswami still has any doubt in his mind that India were not casual in their approach against Australia? If the gentleman has followed this World Cup, he would have seen that India had put up the second-best score against Australia (233) after Sri Lanka.

If Mahendra Singh Dhoni's men had lost, it was not because India had lesser skills, it was because Australia's skills were almost unmatched. Ask Sri Lanka, Pakistan and New Zealand and many others.

The Indian journalist perhaps went too far to criticise Dhoni's men and thought the popular formula of bashing politicians would apply to cricket as well. But in a haste of doing things, he fired with a gun pointing backwards and what happened next is known to all.

People like Arnab Goswami must know that wisdom doesn't lie in crucifying those who face a formal loss in life. In this modern era of humanity, it means nothing grave and only shows you in a poor light. Australia has a rich history and it didn't start from the Sydney the other night. Hope you are aware of that by now.

It will be great if Goswami and noisy channels like his learn to appreciate the hard work of everyone fighting for a cause if you want to get some serious attention. Winning and losing don't really decide the world's fate the way these people do.
