WC 2015: Rabindranath Tagore will be the man of the moment during India-Bangladesh quarter final

Melbourne, March 14: Asian neighbours India and Bangladesh will take on each other at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) here on Thursday, March 19. While India have finished toppers in Pool B, Bangladesh qualified for the last eight as the fourth team from Pool A.

It will be the third time the two teams will be meeting at the World Cup. At this moment, these two teams have won one game each against the other at the World Cup.

But more than just the cricketing interests, the India-Bangladesh match will be special for another reason.

The build-up to the match will see the players and supporters of the two teams singing their respective national anthems and in case of an India versus Bangladesh match, the national anthems of both nations have been penned by a single man and his name is Rabindranath Tagore, the great Indian poet and nobel laureate.

Quite an unparalleled occasion, isn't it?

Tagore has written both the Indian national anthem (Jana Gana Mana) and Bangladeshi national anthem (Amar Sonar Bangla or My Golden Bengal) and it will be a difficult day for sentimental Bengali followers of the game on both sides of the fence.
