World Cup 2023: Bangladesh fan hits himself with slipper, demands same for Shakib and team

Bangladesh fans have become frustrated after their team's dismal defeat in their latest ICC World Cup 2023 match against the Netherlands.

Bangladesh suffered their fifth straight defeat in the World Cup, this time at the hands of minnows Netherlands. Chasing a mere 230 runs at the Eden Gardens, the Tigers got bundled out for just 142 runs.

The 87-run defeat thus effectively ends the semifinal hopes of the Tigers. With just 2 points after six matches, Shakib Al Hasan and his team now can't qualify for the knockouts and are then first team to get eliminated in this World Cup.

And the Bangladeshi fans got frustrated and angry after their team's awful performance. Many supporters made their trip to Kolkata from various parts of Bangladesh, but were left bemused as their team couldn't clear the Dutch hurdle.

A fan became very frustrated and demanded that Shakib Al Hasan and his team must be slapped with slippers, and then he went on to hit himself with the slippers. He also demanded the inclusion of Tamim Iqbal in the team.

The veteran left-handed batter was left out of the World Cup squad but things haven't gone well at all for the team in the tournament.

There was a mass exodus from the Bangladeshi fans when they were reduced to 71 for 6. Although Mahmudullah gave some fight, it was not enough as they got bundled out for 142 runs.
