World Cup 2023 has seen a lot of just-retired players taking part in the commentary panel, but one of them is certain to make a return to the field as a player.
Tamil Nadu's Dinesh Karthik, who is honing his analysis skills as a commentator in the ongoing World Cup, looks set to do the huffing and puffing as he has been named captain for his state in the upcoming Vijay Hazare Trophy.

The Vijay Hazare Trophy is the 50-over domestic tournament and Karthik has been named as the leader for this season. The 38-year-old has host of experiences and will be looking to showcase his leadership skills in the tournament.
Karthik has an illustrious List A career with 7358 runs in the format at an average close to 40. The Indian player has racked up 12 centuries in the domestic circuit with an unbeaten 154 as his highest score.
Along with Karthik, there are some other big names in the Tamil Nadu squad. KKR batter Narayan Jagadeesan, India all-rounder Vijay Shankar, pacer T Natarajan - all are part of the squad. Recent Asian Games Gold Medal winner Sai Kishore has also been included in the squad.
In the spin department, Manimaran Siddharth will be looking to showcase his talent along with Varun Chakravarthy, who was part of the Indian team in the T20 World Cup in 2021.
It is to be seen whether Karthik's performances in the Vijay Hazare Trophy earn him a national call-up. The former KKR captain last played for India in the T20 World Cup in 2022, and may well be pushing for a place in the upcoming T20 World Cup in 2024.
