To deal with the sky-rocketing hotel prices in Ahmedabad in the lead up to the India versus Pakistan World Cup 2023 clash, fans are booking hospital beds in the city. Yes, you read it right.
Hotels in Ahmedabad are charging around Rs 50,000 per night due to high demand because of the match between arch-rivals India and Pakistan at the Narendra Modi Stadium on October 5.

Hospital authorities have reported a spike in inquiries from fans seeking a one or two-night stay at their facilities. The package comes as a lucrative and a more affordable deal for the fans. The package which usually includes fooding allows a 'patient’ to stay with one more person accompanying him.
“Since it’s a hospital, they are asking for a full-body check-up and an overnight stay so both of their purposes are fulfilled, saving money on lodging and getting their health check done," Dr Paras Shah, Director of Sannidhya Multi Speciality Hospital in Bhopal was quoted as saying by Sportstiger.
"We too are getting inquiries for 24-48 hours stays in our hospital, particularly around October 15, as we also have a full-body check-up package." He added, "This is due to the upcoming World Cup India-Pakistan match that is scheduled on October 15. Like at our hospitals, the situation seems the same in other city hospitals too. So, we are thinking about coming out with other health packages," Hospitals' medical director, Dr Nikhil Lala said.
India are hosting the 50-over World Cup for the first time after 2011. India defeated Pakistan in the semi-final of the World Cup 2011 in Mohali and later pipped Sri Lanka in the final to win the title. The Men in Blue haven't ever lost against Pakistan in the ODI World Cup.
India will be facing Pakistan at home for the first time after 2016 and fans don't want to miss the rare opportunity to watch the two teams go against each other in a World Cup match live from the stadium. The match will showcase cricketing superstars including Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Babar Azam and Shaheen Afridi.
